Language Support for Concurrency

I posted yesterday about an idea for language support for automated thread pool usage.  (I also have published an entire page about reinventing the whole development environment which remains a draft, but is published on the site nevertheless and viewable here.  It doesn’t yet contain my half-hatched thread pool idea, yet).

On the same day I published my post about the thread pool idea, I read on Slashdot that Microsoft have an “incubator” project called, “Axum“, which is their concurrency-friendly language.  I took a quick glance – much too quick to form an opinion.  Their idea is not the same as my thread pool idea, but there are some conceptual overlaps.  Interestingly, the new language does automatically take advantage of Microsoft’s APM (Asynchronous Programming Model) functions, also known as “Begin/End”.  Perhaps worth checking out.
